We had an old dresser that was actually my husbands from his teenage years. We aren’t sure how it has made it to each apartment and house over the last 15 years, but here we are. This piece was very traditional which is not the style of our home or this room. Functionally though, it had no flaws and was the right size. Our solution? Chalk paint. My favorite part of using chalk paint on furniture is that I don’t absolutely need to sand it. Can you sand? Yes! But with some kinds of chalk paint, it is not necessary. I used about 2 coats of chalk paint with a wax sealant and it’s perfect. The color is called "Weekend" and it is from Magnolia Homes. While the style of the dresser is still traditional, the color helps it to blend into the space a bit easier and helped me stay in budget so I could splurge on a few other details of this room!

I loved using chalk paint so much that I even used it again on the bed in my sons room (Don't worry I will be sharing his room soon)! It is amazing! Don't forget the top coat to seal it, you don't want black chalk paint rubbing off on your carpet!
